It's rained off and on all day. But actually, that's cool, because I was inside all day and I always have my umbrella with me because I am superprepared girl.
It was my first day at work, and very, very low key. Not a lot of visitors, the ones we did have were classmates (there's a paper due on Tuesday and it's on the Douglass House, so...). I got to hang out with my classmate and coworker Elizabeth, who, it turns out is a huge sci-fi geek. I mean, someone who knows about fanfiction and slash and uses the word "fangirl" in sentences and roleplays Star Trek. So we talked about Serenity and Harry Potter and the lack of married couples in sci-fi shows. We're probably going to go see Goblet of Fire together when it comes out. Hooray for new friends!
Also, I had to share the sheer dorkiness of this moment, because apparently I have no shame:
copies of Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass are only $1 (they are on amazon too) and we're supposed to read it for class, so I was going to buy it (I'll buy it tomorrow), and I got all excited at the thought of having a new book, not for the book part, but because it meant I had something to add to LibraryThing. There is definitely something wrong with me. Although, I did also get excited by the other historic titles that Dover publishes, like A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft and The Subjection of Women by John Stuart Mill. Which doesn't really downplay the "ok, she's odd" aspect, but still.

How about that great poem, "Goblin Market"--also a Dover publication.
Perfect for this time of year, too.
