It kind of drives me nuts that there are Valentine's Day things in stores already. Because then I have to think about Valentine's Day. And Valentine's Day is one of those days that just causes all kinds of inner turmoil. Because on the one hand, I know that it's crass and commercial and that it makes people who aren't in couples feel bad about themselves (having been in that place very many times myself), and that it encourages us to show emotions through materialism and not through actions. But then, I'm still a girl. And I still like flowers and shiny things and chocolates and presents in general. And I can't help it! I don't want to be drawn in by the comercialism, but it's soo shiny! So I don't really know what the point of this is, but I just thought I'd put that out there.

I so totally get this. I don't want to want the pretties and chocolates for they are Bad , but... SHINY!!

and yeah, when the other girls are talking about their shinys, and they ask what your allegedly fabulous man bought you, and you say "nothing, it's just a marketing gimmick" they just think "yeah, uh-huh, and your man is battery powered and made of synthetic materials"

Yeah, I've run into that before. So I'm like, "No, No he exists! I have pictures!" and their like "OH NO! We sooo do not wanna see pictures of that!" and I walk off mutttering "Stupid, evil marketing gimick!"
