Cinderelly, cinderelly...

OK, so I've said before that I want 5 fabulous gay men to make me over (ala Queer Eye for the Straight Guy). Now they have Queer Eye for the Straight Girl with 3 gay men and a lesbian. And there's this part of me that's always jealous of the people on these shows (Queer Eye, What Not to Wear, etc), b/c they get cool free stuff and makeovers and such. But in order to be on these shows, you actually have to be pretty desperate and pathetic. So then I step back and remember to be glad that I'm not so far gone as to need intervention on national television. But still, a new wardrobe and some spa treatments would be nice....

Of course, on some shows (esp the ones on TLC), the furniture is shoddily made from poor quality material, and you have to pay taxes on the stuff you get, b/c it's like a prize I guess. So, if you're poor (like many families on Extreme Makeover Home Edition), you get screwed, b/c you have to pay taxes on all those nice shiny new Kenmore appliances.

and now for something completely different

It kind of drives me nuts that there are Valentine's Day things in stores already. Because then I have to think about Valentine's Day. And Valentine's Day is one of those days that just causes all kinds of inner turmoil. Because on the one hand, I know that it's crass and commercial and that it makes people who aren't in couples feel bad about themselves (having been in that place very many times myself), and that it encourages us to show emotions through materialism and not through actions. But then, I'm still a girl. And I still like flowers and shiny things and chocolates and presents in general. And I can't help it! I don't want to be drawn in by the comercialism, but it's soo shiny! So I don't really know what the point of this is, but I just thought I'd put that out there.
