I should just make Livejournal my homepage or something. But then I'd never actually go anywhere else on the web.
Anyway. I went to the Giant today. Ghetto fabulous. But no pierogie. *tear* Though they did have sparkling lemondae (expensive, but allegedly from France, and so yummy). And being Sunday, the liquor stores were closed, so I couldn't even get Vodka to sate my Polish cusine craving. Though I don't actually like vodka. Except the stuff they use to make Tatanka (or however it's spelled). Mmmm. Tatanka.....
Brain! Come back here! You know how dangerous it is when you wander off like that!

Speaking of church, we did two versions of "Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel" today. The first one confused me b/c the words in our hymnal are not the ones I know. I like them better, as they're not Jesus-centric (oh the joys of not having to skip words). Then the choir sang the regular version at a different point in the ceremony.
For those of you who don't know my singing policy, I shall explain:
In church, when the songs are part of the worship service, I skip words in songs if I don't agree with them. B/c I can't justify praying things I don't believe (and singing is praying twice. I've been known to jump in early on the Amen before than can get to "in Jesus name" too).
If it's for fun or part of a performance, I'll sing all the words. B/c when you're in a choir, you've got to sing religious songs if you ever want to be able to sing anything other than folk tunes and modern pop arrangements (the latter of which are very often atrocious). Which is why I love All Souls, b/c I don't ever have to change the words to songs. Or at least, I haven't yet.

Watching Love Actually on HBO. :) Cute movie. Came in in the middle, but that's fine. Can't, unfortunately, recommend it to certain friends of mine, due to an entirely unnecessary storyline that involves a great deal of nudity and sex (it's actually one of the cutest, most sincere storylines, but naked people).

They had a light up mini Xmas tree in CVS. Was tempted, but since I'm going home on the 15th, not much point. They also had a menorah, again tempted, but it was electric and lit up blue. Tres tacky.

Speaking of Tacky, [livejournal.com profile] apopipsqueak and I had a conversation today about Xmas decorations. And tacky people. Subtley and simplicity is the key, folks. Santa and his sleigh don't need a lighted runway to find your chimney, folks. Pick a theme. There should not be toy soldiers guarding the stable while Mary wraps Jesus in swaddling clothes and lays him in the manger. Nor should there be Santa on the roof. I shudder to think what the inside of some of these people's homes look like on the inside if they apply the same decorating principles to their homes that they do to their yards at this time of year.
I've actually not seen much tacky decorating here yet. Not that I'm complaining. I do need to take a moment to wander past the White House soon. Maybe Wed. after work, even though I don't have to go to class. We'll see.
OK. One more glass of sparkling lemonade and then I shall to bed. Watching the movie till I fall asleep.
Wow, that was a rambly entry.
