Beware: Politics within
Sep. 29th, 2004 11:51 pmSo, I'm considering voting for Nader. I live in DC, but I'm still registered in NY, and I plan on voting by absentee. And neither place is battleground. They're both (as far as I know) pretty much in Kerry's pocket already. And I'm not jazzed about Kerry. I'm not jazzed about Nader either, but I like the idea of getting the third party on the ballot, though I've got issues with certain planks in the Green Party platform. Certain things that have come out about Kerry make me wonder. I don't think he's a "flip-flopper" but I think that he may be trying to say what he thinks the people want to hear. But he keeps getting conflicting advice, and so he looks dumb. I like a man who thinks for himself and isn't afraid to change his mind, but I worry that people see indecisive and opportunistic. He's still a better choice than the Moron-in-chief we've got now, and I want him (Kerry) to win. But maybe I'd be doing more with my vote if I used it to express dissatisfaction with the current two-party system and the platforms of those two parties.
It's like ice cream: If they only offered chocolate and vanilla at your local ice cream place, would you go there alot? No, you'd go someplace else, where they had 52 flavors. Since moving's not an option, maybe we can force them to offer us something else, even if it's just a little mint chip...
