home sweet home
Oct. 18th, 2005 04:31 pmThere are days when I really, really want my own place. A refridgerator and cabinets with only my groceries, place to store things like a crock pot and my lemonade maker, the ability to paint my walls whatever color I like, no one in the bathroom when I need/want to use it, no one playing music too loudly, no one in the kitchen when I'm cooking, only my trash in the trash can, no one throwing trash in the recycling bin, etc. I probably would have an apartment, so there would be limitations- I'd still have to share a laundry room (though I'd really like to get one of one of these and one of these when I can), I'd still have noisy neighbors, I'd still have a landlord who would have to approve certain things (though the nice thing about landlords is that they have to do certain repairs and such), but it would be my place. And what's funny is that just now I thought, "it would be really great if I had my own place so that I could offer it up to all of my friends as a place to crash, not just for a weekend, but for longer if they needed it." Not that I want my home to be a halfway house, but my fantasy home is a big house on an island where I have way more bedrooms than I actually need for my family and my friends can come and stay as long as they like, whenever they like, whether it's overnight after a party, or forever. I don't want people freeloading, but I would love to be a safe haven.
